MEDIADEM researchers participate in the FONI project

Members of the Greek and Romanian MEDIADEM teams delivered seminars in the context of the FONI project (Freedom of new ideas: Promotion of the freedom of expression, freedom of the press and freedom of speech among the Moldovan younger generations). FONI is funded by the European Union’s EIDHR programme for Moldova and is implemented by the European Public Law Organisation (EPLO). The seminars took place on 30 September 2011 at the premises of the Moldovan State University in Chișinău, Moldova. Evangelia Psychogiopoulou, the scientist in charge of the MEDIADEM project delivered a seminar on ‘Media policy and regulation for media freedom and independence: The cases of Greece and the UK’. The analysis focused on the main instruments for media regulation in Greece and the UK, and assessed the implications of the established media policy strategies for media freedom and independence. Cristian Guinea, member of the Romanian MEDIADEM research team, delivered 2 lectures presenting MEDIADEM’s findings for Romania. The seminars were attended by students from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences of Moldova State University.
