Nouveaux écrans, nouvelle régulation?
This book contains the proceedings of the international conference ‘New television screens, new regulation’ (‘Nouveaux écrans, nouvelle régulation?), held on 5-6 July 2012 in Brussels, Belgium. It is the result of the cooperation between the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (BE) and the Belgian MEDIADEM team.
The book explores the evolution of audiovisual media regulation that is linked to the development of online audiovisual practices, with a specific focus on the emergence of connected TV. The convergence of two worlds – that of the audiovisual media and that of the Internet – has caused and will continue to cause major and rapid mutations in the production and consumption practices of audiovisual media, in the economics of the media eco-system as well as in the legal and regulatory framework for audiovisual media services.
The authors analyse the evolution of media practices, economic issues and actors’ strategies, the state of the industry, the governance of the Internet confronted with the audiovisual media and the challenges to the regulation of audiovisual media services.
